Replacing the Cintiq 12WX, a model introduced by Wacom back in 2007, the new Cintiq 13HD has a 13.3 inch LED display with an a-Si Active Matrix TFT LCD (IPS) technology and a full HD resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 165 dots per inch (DPI).
Compared to the 12WX the new 13HD has more compact dimensions at 374x248x14 mm. The weight has also been drastically reduced from 2.0 to 1.2 kg.
Another major improvement is the connection, which consists of Wacom’s new 3-in-1 cable, replacing the bulky wires, power source, and convertor which greatly limited the portability of the 12WX.
The stand is detachable and provides 4 different positions. The tablet surface does not provide touch capabilities, however it features 2048 pressure levels.
There are no Touch Rings or Strips, but four 4 customizable, application-specific ExpressKeys are integrated.
The new 13HD also include the new Pro Pen, with tilt recognition and a more comfortable, ergonomic design.
The Cintiq 13HD will be available at Wacom’s eStore from early April. The price is $999.00 / €899.90 (included VAT).
