DesignerTechniques Competition: the winners

DesignerTechniques.com has announced the winners of its design competition started back in June. The 1st prize went to Rollo Dixon, graduated in Automotive Design at the Coventry University in 2005, who has presented an original 3-seater whose design was inspired by natural shapes.

Design Project by Rollo DixonRollo Dixon‘s concept is a three seater mid-sized car, with a passenger compartment characterized by large glass surfaces and butterly doors.

According to the judges, from his three chosen theme words (NATURE, COMMUNICATION and TECHNOLOGY), Rollo made good use of various inspirations and developed them into a coherent theme that inspires not only the form language of his vehicle, but also its functionality.Concept Poster by Rollo Dixon

Among the main features are the original interior seating layout that allows the occupants to communicate easily and a large and unusual glass house.

"His work should serve as a good example to those hoping to be car designers of how to put a design project together."

The second and third prizes went respectively to Mark Juhasz – with an original vehicle whose design makes use of easily changeable textile parts – and Darren McKeage, who presented an Amphibious Coupe with a competent and realistic design.
