ARPA-E and Local Motors launch LITECAR Challenge, with $150,000 prizes

US ARPA-E (Advanced Research Projects Agency) and Local Motors have announced the launch of a competition that challenges designers and engineers to create a lightweight, safe vehicle with innovative technologies. The competition begins Jan. 2, 2015


A Local Motors’ announcement reports, “submissions should propose innovative concepts in materials, vehicle structures and vehicle design; however, concepts are not limited to these categories.”

The total prizes money for the competition – which begins Jan. 2, 2015 – are worth $150,000.
