SAIC launches 3rd Roewe-MG CUP Design Competition

SAIC has announced the launch of the 3rd “Roewe·MG Cup” Auto Design Award, asking design students to create a vehicle for the Roewe brand based on the theme ‘Intelligent Future’.

The 2015 edition of the competition builds on the success of the past two editions.

The opening ceremony was held on March 13th at Donghua University, and was attended by teachers from the Industrial Design Degrees from China Academy of Art, Central Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University and other art universities.

This competition is organized and supported by SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company in collaboration with Donghua University.

The contest theme is “Roewe – Intelligent Future” and asks participant to envision the future direction for the brand, focusing on “new internet cars” for a “new energy era”. Entries must include both interior and exterior design.

The deadline for entry submission is early June 2015. A selection of participants will have the opportunity to finalize their design during a 3-month summer internship at the SAIC global design center.

The final winners will be announced in late August 2015.

The competition prize consists of preliminary contest prizes and final prizes.

The first three winners (one grand winner and two second places) will receive a 1-week UK design culture exchange trip in UK Design Center; invitation to the final awarding ceremony and to the Shanghai Auto Show.

The complete list of prizes also includes preliminary contest prizes (20 to 30) plus individual awards.
